Two days before the Grammys, various companies came together to present their brands and causes to artists and press personnel.

There were clothing lines, such as the dress company Clarisse, that presented their extravagant dresseses that range from prom chic to fromal couture that a woman could wear to her college graduation. There was also Joy and Mario's shoe line where different styles of hand sown shoes (which I got two free pairs of). The designs were interesting in the sense that they incorporated simple stripped designs, but also some modern graffiti art.

The second major attraction were skin care and beauty products that ranged from Jonathan's exuberant haircair products to JAVA's all natural fruit and coffee created skin care products. Keeping the healthy natural theme, ZICO presented their energizing vitamin drink that has all the nutrients and vitamins needed in a healthy low calorie drink.

The most interesting aspect of the event was the community inspiration and sense of activism. Unity, along side Ancestry, presented a very compelling discourse for viewing diversity which entailed everyone finding out about their ancenstry in order to realize that people are not solely identifiable by one race or ethnicity, for we all come from a variety of backgrounds.

However, the table that stole the event was Activism for Empowerment that spoke of a heartwrenching story of children who are abused in foreign countries. One story discussed how their organization is attempting to bring back a young girl whose leg was cut off by her dad in order to sell for mone to a witch doctor. They want to bring the girl to the U.S. in order to get her a prostetic leg.

They had a huge bag of gifts that people were signing and was eventually going to be auctioned off as a charity event for their cause. Overall the experience was a great and different perspective on traditional red carpet events (that included many bags of free clothes and skin care products). That is always a plus!
