Move Over Comic-Con, Cookie Con Is Here
Looking for something fun and different to do this weekend?
If you are in the Los Angeles area, you are in luck because this Saturday, Jan. 25, the Pasadena Convention Center will host the first ever LA Cookie Con and Sweets Show.

Yes, that is right, a convention of baked goods. And you get to do more than just look at the treats– you get to taste them!
USC alumnus Nancy Tei and her husband founded the event because they noticed a gap in the foodie culture for families with children. Tei said that most food-related events are not kid friendly, which makes them hard to enjoy for families.
“It’s the biggest pastry party,” Tei said of the LA Cookie Con. “Hardly anybody has a birthday party with no cake so for there to not be a baking-focused show here in Los Angeles was shocking to me.”
Aside from free samples, the event will also feature live demonstrations, workshops and celebrity chef appearances.
The event will host 80 exhibitors, ranging from local to national vendors. True to Angeleno fashion, the LA Cookie Con is conscious of dietary restrictions and will have vegan, gluten free and raw options available.

Tei plans to expand the length of the show next year, and is also planning a show for the Bay Area. Tei said you do not have to be a foodie to enjoy the event. The LA Cookie Con is a chance for anyone to indulge his or her sweet tooth.
“In this day and age we really need a day to just relax and have fun,” Tei said.
For every adult ticket purchased a child under the age of 12 receives free admission. For more information, visit the event website here.
