The Sunset Strip better prepare for the arrival of Foxygen, an eccentric psychedelic indie rock band that is scheduled to perform at the Roxy on January 2nd and 3rd.

Foxygen has come a long way since their birth in 2005 when core members Sam France and Jonathan Rado were only fifteen years old. The two budding artists conjured up mixes and EPs from their bedrooms before producer Richard Smith discovered the band's peculiar glory. Foxygen was then signed to Jagjaguwar Records and the band's avant-garde tunes were relinquished into the unwitting world of music in 2012.

Since their major release, the band's success has sky-rocketed into oblivion with a whopping schedule of tour dates, both national and international. Foxygen has landed some highly impressive gigs, including Coachella 2014 where they showcased their one-of-a-kind stage presence.

A typical Foxygen show would most likely feature Sam France flailing around the stage (and/or the crowd), sporting a sparkly pink crop too, tacky platform shoes, and platinum blonde dreadlocks. France's androgynous outfits match his ability to sound like he's both male and female over the course of one song. Meanwhile, Rado hunches over his keyboard, letting his Bob Dylan-esque hair blow in the wind.

There is never a dull moment during a Foxygen show, and the band's performances seem to be getting wilder as they produce more music. With the release of their latest 24-track masterpiece, "...And Star Power", Foxygen's show at the Roxy will showcase some of the band's newest, and most perplexing songs.

The new album is essentially an hour and twenty two minutes of erratic bells and trumpets, maniacally esoteric vocals, mythical xylophone tones and marvelously synthesized organ chords. But behind all the eruptive pandemonium lies a solid foundation that Foxygen never seems to lose sight of. The drums are consistent and the abnormal plethora of instruments seem to be in harmony -- I guess we could call this band an accomplished example of "organized chaos".

Foxygen's show at the Roxy will be an unforgettable explosion of modern psychedelic insanity that will redefine your idea of a wild Friday night.
