It’s officially December: a time when houses are decorated with reindeer displays and tree-scented candles, shopping malls are packed and singing carols to awkward neighbors isn’t completely frowned upon.

For the rest of the country, cold air, or even snow, is added to the mix. But, here in Los Angeles, our cold weather is what the east coast likes to call “summer.” Try as we might, a “White Christmas” is not in our future. However, this does not stop our local celebrities from pretending that winter is a real season. Here are a few ways that celebrities in Los Angeles like to pretend that it’s actually winter.

The overuse of fake snow

The number of man-made snow services in Los Angeles is exhausting. Whether it’s filming a movie in Hollywood that’s meant to take place in Antarctica, or hosting extravagant winter-themed parties, celebrities love to pretend that snow could someday fall from the sky in this city. Ashlee Simpson even went as far as to have a Christmas-themed birthday party back in October.

Additional trips to New York City, or other wintery states

It is common knowledge that LA celebs frequent New York City, but during wintertime, a trip to a colder city may serve as an emotional escape into the joy of Christmastime rather than a new job opportunity.

The simple fact that it is 70 degrees outside does not stop celebrities from trying to keep up with east coast winter fashion. Scarves, sweaters, beanies, jackets and boots are a must.

Recording holiday songs about colder weather

In the past, some of our favorite Hollywood artists like Ariana Grande, Hilary Duff, Zooey Deschanel (She & Him) and Pentatonix have all recorded popular holiday albums or singles. The excuse can be made that these celebs are simply singing classic holiday tunes, but I think that there's a deeper meaning behind all of their wintery glee. Clearly, they are trying to fill the void that comes from the horrifying realization that it might be 80 degrees come December 25. Baby, it’s not that cold outside.
