You and your bae have probably spent many weekends building your endurance with Netflix marathons; this weekend though, get your significant other off the couch and start building some physical endurance, some arm muscle, and hey, maybe even a stronger relationship.

According to Psychology Today, couples who exercise together often have a better workout because a partner’s mere presence will improve performance. Also, the coordinated actions help build a stronger emotional bond and a physical type of arousal that’s similar to romantic arousal. Here are eight active date ideas to get you and your boyfriend/girlfriend sweating.

1. Rock Climbing
Work muscles you have never worked before with your boyfriend or girlfriend at an indoor rock climbing gym. Rock climbing together builds plenty of muscle, but also plenty of trust. Together you can help each other figure out the best route to get the top. At L.A. Boulders in the Arts District, the top of the climbing walls even have a little living room set up with a couch and board games. It’s $23 per day, including the shoe rental. After a tough rock climbing workout, it may even be time to bust out the massage oil and take turns massaging sore muscles.

2. Flying Trapeze
Sure, your date may be able to beat you in every type of sport and exercise, but what are the chances that they have tried flying trapeze? Learn something new together, whether it’s a basic knee hang from a bar or a new appreciation for this classic circus performance. This also offers the perfect excuse to bury your head in their shoulder if you’re "afraid of heights." Class instructors teach students several basic tricks, including the knee hang, dismount, flip, and leap toward a catcher on another bar. Trapeze School New York has a location at the Santa Monica Pier and Groupon deals are generally about $75 for a two-hour flying-trapeze class for two.

3. Frisbee Golf
Okay, maybe it’s not the sweatiest date in the world, but don’t be fooled. Unless you and your date are Frisbee pros, you’ll probably do plenty of jogging to retrieve your discs. Plus the possibility of hitting someone or something adds some excitement that you won’t find on a mini-golf date. The best place in L.A. for Frisbee golf is Hahamonga Park in Pasadena. The park also has a picnic area for a post-game snack and trails for running, hiking and biking for the fitness-intense couple.

4. Ice Skating (or Roller Skating)
This activity is great for couples because you can actually get a pretty intense workout while still talking and even holding hands. Roller skating and ice skating works your core and legs. When either of those give out, take some time to laugh at your date and then fall down right next to them. Ice skating is about $12 (including skate rental) per hour, and at this time of year, the outdoor rinks at L.A. Live and Pershing Square, with their Christmas lights and trees, make a cute place for a date.

5. Ping Pong
An active date with drinks? Yep, bars with ping pong tables are casual places to challenge your date to a table tennis match. The close proximity allows you to trash talk your date with ease. Beginning ping pong players burn about 350 calories per hour, so while it’s not a particularly intense workout, it will improve hand-eye coordination. It costs $20 -$25 per hour to rent a table at SPiN Standard L.A., the social ping pong bar in Downtown, but it’s only $6 -$7 per hour at the Ping Pong Palace in Koreatown.

6. Trampoline Park
Remember when you could jump up and down on a trampoline for hours when you were a kid? Well, unleash your inner kid at a trampoline park—you’ll probably be sweating within the first 20 minutes. These indoor playgrounds are basically wall-to-wall trampolines, and even if you aren’t jumping the whole time, you and your date will burn plenty of calories just trying to keep your balance on the wobbly floors. Challenge your boo to do splits, land backflips, or play a

game of dodgeball in the net-enclosed areas. Some places even have cosmic nights where the trampoline park turns into a loud party with strobe lights and fog machines. These places can get pretty crowded with kids, so pop in for a $10 workout class to exercise with the adults. Prices for free jumping range from $5 to $13 per hour at Sky High Sports in Woodland Hills.

7. Dancing
Sweat it out with a night of ballroom dancing, country line dancing, or club dancing. Loud music and plenty of silly dance moves will make this cardio workout fly by. Plus, you can ditch the workout shorts and look hot on this active date. Dance hand-in-hand or hip-to-hip with your main squeeze at The Room Santa Monica for free.

8. Run a 5K Together
This active date idea will definitely make you feel like you accomplished something, even if you don’t get a finisher’s medal. A 5K is a short enough distance to finish in less than half an hour and get in a workout by conquering hills and weaving through the crowd. Running with a partner will keep you motivated and help you finish faster. 5K races usually cost $20 or more per person, but the price often includes some post-race snacks, maybe even a t-shirt, and the chance to run on some iconic streets without the cars. Don’t forget the sweaty post-race picture with bib and your babe!
