USC Falls To Number Two For International Students

With roughly 10,900 international students at USC, Southern California remains a popular destination for foreign students, although marginally less so than for the 11,100 that chose NYU. Owen Fung, a USC undergraduate born and raised in Hong Kong, said he strongly considered NYU before choosing USC.
He described New York as being more familiar to his life in Hong Kong, with its densely-populated downtown hub, than Los Angeles, relatively flat and thinly spread. Like scores of other international students, USC’s business school was what ultimately won him over, and there is little reason to believe that many will not continue to make the same decision.

Although reduced to second best, USC’s overall population of international students grew in the same time period. Private schools like USC and NYU have an advantage in this respect over their public school counterparts in that they do not have to prioritize in-state applicants, freeing space for prospective students living abroad.
Should trends continue, the Trojan family can only be expected to broaden in its international scope in the coming years.
