UC Plans Five Percent Tuition Raise Each Of The Next Five Years
Right now, the 2015-2016 school year tuition could be as much as $12,804 (not including room or board), but by 2019-2020, tuition could be $15,564.
The proposal, which was released Thursday, says that the reason for the tuition hikes are because UC needs the additional money to cover retirement benefits, hire more faculty, and increase the number of undegraduate students by 5,000.
This will be voted on by UC regents on Nov. 19 and 20 at their meeting in San Francisco.
