On November 9, the 2014 MTV Europe Music Awards (EMAs) were held in Glasgow, Scotland at the SSE Hydro arena.

Hosted by Nicki Minaj, the 20th annual MTV EMAs featured many a memorable moment for fans and artists alike.

Although unlike most MTV awards shows, this year's EMAs were a fairly tame affair with only a few F-bombs here and there.

One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer led the night with three awards each, while Katy Perry and Ariana Grande won two awards apiece.

Here are 7 of the biggest highlights from the awards show!

Nicki Minaj as Host

From an epic three-song performance that included a brand new ballad with Skylar Grey called "Bed of Lies" and winning the award for Best Hip Hop to the ridiculous amount of costume changes she had, Nicki Minaj did it all as the MTV EMAs host!

Of course, it wouldn't be an MTV awards show if there weren't a few weird moments and Minaj provided plenty of those. The rapper played mini-golf onstage, sending the ball into a hole shaped like her butt, and sang - for some odd reason - the Proclaimers' "I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles)."

Ariana Grande's Performance

Hitting every note flawlessly, Ariana Grande put on quite a show at the EMAs with her performance of "Problem" and the Zedd-produced "Break Free."

Also, everyone was shocked when she stepped on the EMAs red carpet without her signature ponytail and actually let her hair down for once.

Ed Sheeran's Performance

Since this was a music awards show, it's no surprise that performances would make up the majority of this list.

Ed Sheeran performed his latest single "Thinking Out Loud" with two amazing dancers re-creating the song's sweet video, which had the ladies swooning everywhere.

Ozzy Osbourne's Tribute

Presented with the Global Icon Award, rocker Ozzy Osbourne was honored with a tribute performance as the EMAs finale.

In this explosive performance, Slash, Myles Kennedy and the Conspirators, and Biffy Clyro's Simon Neil rocked out to "Crazy Train" with loads of fireworks and guitar pyrotechnics.

Everything About Alicia Keys

Soon-to-be mom Alicia Keys showed off her baby bump at the EMAs with a stunning sequined silver gown.

The singer also gave a heart-wrenching performance of "We Are Here," a thought-provoking song about global conflicts that was fittingly nominated for Best Song With a Message" - though it lost out to Beyoncé's "Pretty Hurts."

Justin Bieber's Acceptance Speech Video

Justin Bieber won the EMA for Best Male this year, marking his fifth time winning said award, beating out the likes of Ed Sheeran, Pharrell Williams, Eminem, and Justin Timberlake.

The singer's acceptance speech video, which appears to have been filmed outside a CVS store, was also one of the more mind-boggling moments of the night (as was his win).

Kiesza's Performance

Best New nominee Kiesza hyped up the crowd with an extremely dynamic performance of her hit single "Hideaway."

The singer re-created the energetic dance from her music video and kept her voice on point and steady while at it, so major props to you, Kiesza!
