'Twin Peaks' To Return On Showtime

The show follows FBI agent Dale Cooper who investigates a murder in the fictional Washington town, Twin Peaks.
For the fans who were upset about the cancellation of the show, a movie was created as a prequel to the film called “Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me.”
And now, the series’ creators David Lynch and Mark Frost will bring back nine new episodes on Showtime for the show’s third season.

Lynch tweeted fans saying, “Dear Twitter Friends…it is happening again…”
Showtime also issued a statement on behalf of Lynch and Frost: “The mysterious and special world of Twin Peaks is pulling us back. We’re very excited. May the forest be with you.”
“Twin Peaks” aired in 1990 and ended in 1991, after just two seasons.
Frost said the new episodes will not be a remake of the show, but are a continuation of the show set in present day. There will be new story lines that continue the second season’s plot. Though he didn’t go into specifics about the plot, Frost told Variety that the new episodes will be “the next chapter of the story.”
Variety also reported that the cast has yet to be revealed. In the early seasons, Kyle MacLanchlan played Dale Cooper.
Though the revival of this show wasn’t funded through a Kickstarter campaign, Frost said he feels pressure to make the new episodes worthy of the fans and the show’s history.
Showtime will bring back the original two seasons leading up the to premiere a couple of years away. Until then, the two seasons of the series are available on Netflix.
