Trojans Looking For More Offensive Explosiveness Against Arizona

On the offensive side of the ball, the Trojans looked in sync with each other. Quarterback Cody Kessler shared about his views on the offense’s performance this past Saturday. As a captain, Kessler revealed his innate leadership skills.
“I took it upon myself and the offense as a whole,” Kessler shared. “We have to give the defense a better cushion.”
He continued to talk about how he believes that the offense could have done more with their time with the ball on the field. Specifically, he brought up USC’s final drive during the game.
“We should have gotten the first down—that’s on us,” Kessler shared. “We should have had more points in the first place.”
Overall, the offense was pretty efficient in Saturday's loss and head coach Steve Sarkisian shared his thoughts about the explosiveness of his offense.
He felt that both tailbacks, Javorius “Buck” Allen and Justin Davis, exhibited the burst that he was hoping for. Now, Sarkisian is hoping that his passing offense can generate similar results.
“I’d like to create more offensively,” Sarkisian stated. “It’s a point of emphasis.”

With regards to the offense, wide receiver Darreus Rogers reflected about his performance against ASU. He shared about how he needs to work on “the small things,” especially in regards to a couple of dropped passes. He commented on what he thinks the offense needs to do as they prepare for the Wildcats.
“It’s going to take all of us to go out there and get this win,” Rogers shared. “Arizona’s going to be a big one for us.”
Additionally, wide receiver Nelson Agholor shared his opinions about watching this Saturday’s film.
“Film is there to learn from, whether it’s the good things you did or the bad things you did,” Agholor said. “If you’re a true player you learn from both.”
In reflecting on the loss, Agholor truly exhibited why he is a captain for the Trojans. He realizes that his demeanor is “contagious” for the younger players on the team.
“I will do what ever I need to do for us to progress,” Agholor shared. “Just have fun and encourage the guys.”

“I know what he’s capable of,” Agholor stated. “I think he’s going to capitalize on the plays that come his way.
Additionally, Agholor shared about his excitement for the Arizona game. He mentioned how the team “feeds off of” all the people that are against them.
“Those are the games that you live for,” Agholor said. “That’s what college football is all about.”
Also, Sarkisian shared a bit about his feelings on Saturday’s loss.
“That’s the beauty of football, you can have a loss like we had Saturday,” Sarkisian said. “And seven days later you can have a chance to go out and redeem yourself.”
From on offensive standpoint, if everyone clicks together and ups the explosiveness, the Trojans should be too much for the Wildcats’ defense to handle. If USC’s defense can channel its focus and play like the defense we are used to,a win is surely within reach.
The Trojans are looking forward to making the trip out to Tucson on Saturday to face the unbeaten Wildcats from the University of Arizona (5-0, 2-0).
