Scarlett Johansson has taken on a new project in a limited series based on a Edith Wharton's 1913 novel, "The Custom of the Country, according to Variety

The Sony Pictures TV series will consist of eight episodes. Johansson will serve as executive producer along with screenwriter Christopher Hampton (“Atonement”). In the story, Johansson will play Undine Spragg, a Midwestern girl.

Many of Wharton’s novels have been transformed for film: “Age of Innocence” in 1993, “The Reef” in 1997 and “The House of Mirth” in 2000.

This is a new take on the novel, as it premieres on TV instead of the big screen.
