The Supreme Court decision to not review cases and let stand lower-court rulings on Monday enabled same-sex marriage in Indiana, Oklahoma, Utah, Virginia and Wisconsin.

24 states, including District of Columbia, now allow same-sex marriage. The number could soon increase to 30 depending on how appeal courts in Colorado, Kansas, North Carolina, South Carolina, West Virginia, and Wyoming follow their own precedents regarding bans against same-sex marriage.
