President Compaore Of Burkina Faso Declares State Of Emergency

In Burkina Faso, President Blase Compaore has declared a state of emergency as he looks to end the violent protests against his 27-year rule. Mr. Compaore, who assumed power in a 1987 coup, attempted to seek re-election in 2015, but civilians have taken it to the streets to protest this decision.

Protesters have set fires to government buildings, and one has died in the course of the events. According BBC, a statement signed by Mr. Compaore said that the government has been dissolved.
