There was a lot of anticipation for the third episode of "The Legend of Korra" which aired yesterday on Nickelodeon’s website. The show started out with Prince Wu getting ready for his coronation and planning a lot of elaborate and extravagant things to occur for the ceremony. He tells Mako that he does plan on leading or creating decrees, but rather having his advisors and closest cabinet to do all that work while he sits back and shops (which is basically what all the other Earth Kingdom leaders have done before him).

Meanwhile, all the air benders are on the alert for Korra and Tenzin exclaims his worries about Kuvira’s growing army and dictatorship. However, everyone believes that it is nothing to worry about, for she will have to step down once Prince Wu is crowned. Back at the swamp, Korra wants to get back into her fighting shape as she believes that the world needs her to create peace, but Toph explains to her that the world does not really need her.

Toph was chief of police for decades, and no matter how much time and work she put in there was always crime and destruction. But, Toph still agrees to help Korra get into shape. The fact that Toph still has her sassy attitude makes her reappearance in the show even more satisfying. In Republic City, Prince Wu finds out that all the riches in the palace that were supposed to be in his ceremony were stolen, including the crown, and all they had left was a broach. To add insult to injury, Kuvira kicks Prince Wu out of the presidential suite and she makes it clear that she always gets what she wants.

Toph proves how even as an old lady she can still kick but as she takes down Korra with her hands behind her back and barely moving a muscle (like a boss). When Korra ask about why Toph left the world behind and her daughters, she explains to her that she is more connected to the world than she has ever been before. The vines and roots of the swamp connect to all the places of the world that she can see everything, including her daughters and Republic City.

At the coronation, Prince Wu gives Kuvira a medal for her all her work in “restoring” the Earth Kingdom, and Kuvira steps up to give what was thought to be a farewell speech. Instead she announces that Prince Wu is a joke and has absolutely no power and that she will not be stepping down as ruler of the Earth Kingdom, and anyone who tries to get in her way will be crushed.

After Kuvira’s speech, Bolin questions his loyalty because he doesn’t like how she went against all of the leaders’ wishes and plans. Kuvira reassures him that this is for the best and all that talk about crushing people was just some tough rhetoric to show they mean business. Bolin falls for her speech like everyone else and he doesn’t see her destructive dictatorship.

Suyin comes in after Kuvira’s talk with Bolin and states how Kuvira needs to step down. Suyin attacks Kuvira’s leadership tactics as she exclaims how Kuvira has been forcing states to join her kingdom like she did in the first episode. Kuvira threatens Su by telling her that she then knows exactly what is going to happen to Zaofu.

Mako tries to comfort Prince Wu after his horrible coronation ceremony. Bolin tries to explain to Mako why Kuvira’s plan is a good thing and compared her to Korra (which Mako reacted in the same disgusted way I did). The brothers argue and they split up over the issue, for Bolin doesn’t understand what Kuvira is actually doing and he insults Prince Wu by stating that he is just a pompous snob that doesn’t even know how to take care of himself.

Prince Wu heard the whole thing and he tries to comfort himself by taking Mako to the mall with him but he quickly has a breakdown when he sees Kuvira supporter shirts being sold. He ends up having to run away from some supporters he assaulted and continues his emotional breakdown. Mako shows some tough love when he tells Wu that he shouldn’t be shocked by what has happened as he has done nothing for his people and he has not shown one reason why he deserves the crown.

Back at the swamp, Korra was getting frustrated at how easily she was losing to Toph and didn’t understand why until Toph tells her she still has metal from the poison stuck inside of her. Korra was very excited to find out this information and is ready to have it taken out, but when Toph attempts to remove it Korra’s body is resistant to the process.

Toph makes it clear that the reason the metal does not want to come out is because Korra still wants it in her. The most obvious reason why is the fact that while the metal is still in her body, Korra has an excuse as to why she does not have to resume her duties as the Avatar. Toph tells Korra that if she wants the metal out, and if she wants to get back in the action, she is going to have to bend it out herself.

The episode concludes with Tenzin leaving the responsibility to find Korra to his three kids. Will they find her, and will Korra be able to regain her strength and confidence. Find out in next weeks recap of "The Legend of Korra."
