How To Wear Fall Trends In L.A. Weather
We laugh at the Empire State every winter when New York begins trading in ballet flats and shorts for Patagonia jackets and Ugg boots, while our wardrobe stays more or less the same. We get sunshine and palm trees in December; they get snow storms and black ice. But the enviable L.A. weather can be boring for the fashion followers who miss out on fall/winter runway trends-- I’m talking the new monogrammed Burberry poncho that Cara Delevinge and Olivia Palermo have been sporting everywhere. While cashmere and puffer jackets may be too extreme for SoCal’s weather, here are some fall fashion staples that can easily be adapted to fit your L.A. ensemble.

Turtlenecks
Wear them the wrong way and you’re Velma Dinkley from Scooby Doo; wear them the right way and you’re mimicking Celiné’s and Tibi’s runway looks. For the past few seasons, designers have been bringing the 90’s fad back, and this year is no exception.
There are so many new ways to wear turtlenecks without looking overly-geeky. Opt for lighter materials, sleeveless cuts or cropped top to fit the 90-degree weather.
Sneakers
We all know that comfort is not a priority in the fashion world. However, with the sneakers trend, your feet - and outfit - will be thanking you at the end of the day. Get creative and team them up with more feminine pieces or keep it casual with sweatpants.

Matchy-Matchy Set
Isabel Marant has been defining Parisian attitude and feminine spirit since 2000 with her Étoile line. With a huge following of celebrity fans, this designer pretty much dictates the ins and outs of the season, and this autumn, it's matching separates. Prints on prints has never looked better.
Shift Dress
If there's one thing you should splurge on right now, it's a nice shift dress. Perfect for every occasion, they're nice to throw on when you're running short on time as well. Plus, if you choose to dress up your outfit, you can easily turn your day look into formal wear for professional or social settings.
If the temperature drops, add stockings, a cute circle scarf or pair them up with knee high boots. Seasons may shift, but this fashion staple isn't going anywhere.

The Bauble Beanie
The oldest trick in the bag when it comes to hiding a bad hair day - or a rough morning. Even though L.A. weather does not necessarily call for knitted beanies, they're a great add-on to your daily outfit.
Loungewear
The trend that everyone should be looking forward to the most is the pyjama-inspired look. Never again do you have to feel like a slob walking into your 9 a.m. Friday discussion. Wang's done it, McCartney's done it, and now you can too.
