From relationship horror stories and obscure childhood anecdotes to career advice and thoughts on mortality, Lena Dunham’s brand new memoir – “Not That Kind of Girl” – is everything fans hoped it would be and more.

Whether you’ve yet to read it or are looking to relive the hilarity and the bluntness, we’ve rounded up some of Dunham’s most noteworthy – and sometimes cringe-worthy – quotes, all of which make fans love Dunham even more than before.

1. On her young self: “As a little girl I had been obnoxiously self-aware, irritatingly smug, prone to reading the dictionary ‘for fun’ and making pronouncements like, ‘Papa, nobody my age enjoys real literature.’”

2. On early, ill-fated commitments: “When I was nine, I wrote a vow of celibacy on a piece of paper and ate it.”

3. On virginity: “I didn’t tell Jonah I was a virgin, just that I hadn’t done it ‘that much.’ I was sure I had already broken my hymen in high school while crawling over a fence in Brooklyn in pursuit of a cat that didn’t want to be rescued.”

4. On odd fashion choices: “My mother and I have a massive fight when I choose to wear a banana-printed belly shirt and pink leggings to the Vatican.”

5. On filming sex scenes: “Getting naked [on camera] feels better some days than others. (Good: when you are vaguely tan. Bad: when you have diarrhea.)”

6. On deserving better: “I was a working woman. I deserved kisses. I deserved to be treated like a piece of meat, but also respected for my intellect. And I could afford a cab home. So I called one, and his sad dog with the Hebrew name watched me hop his fence and pace at the curbside until my taxi came.”

7. And lastly, the book itself – in all its earnest, candid glory - is summed up best in her introduction, with a quote that reads:

“If I could take what I’ve learned and make one menial job easier for you, or prevent you from having the kind of sex where you feel you must keep your sneakers on in case you want to run away during the act, then every misstep of mine was worthwhile. I’m already predicting my future shame at thinking I had anything to offer you, but also my future glory in having stopped you from trying an expensive juice cleanse or thinking that it was your fault when the person you are dating suddenly backs away, intimidated by the clarity of your personal mission here on earth. No, I am not a sexpert, a psychologist, or a dietitian. I am not a mother of three or the owner of a successful franchise. But I am a girl with a keen interest in having it all, and what follows are hopeful dispatches from the frontlines of that struggle.”

Dunham also did a series of videos coinciding with the book release. She gives advice to fans through responses that are just as wonderful and quote-worthy as her book:
