President Obama has decided to delay executive action on immigration reform until after midterm elections.

This decision comes from Democratic pressure, who feared that acting now could hurt their party's chances in the fall and possibly ruin efforts to retain Democratic control of the Senate, reports The New York Times.

Previously, Obama vowed to issue broad directives mend the immigration system. His recent decision has caused anger from immigration advocates, though administrative officials say Obama is still determined to take action eventually.
