Tune in for the Grey's Anatomy premiere next week (Twitter/@GreysABC).

The long–awaited “Grey’s Anatomy” season 11 premiere, “I Must Have Lost it on the Wind,” hits the small screen on Thursday, September 25th.

Last season concluded with a lot of unfinished drama, leaving viewers with a lot of mixed emotions. Here's what we're hoping to see this upcoming season.

Will the show be the same without Cristina?

One of "Grey’s Anatomy"’s most beloved characters, Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) filmed her last episode this past season. I can’t even imagine how the show’s dynamic will change. The Christina/Meredith friendship is arguably television’s top female friendship. They have been through everything together since the first episode, and now Meredith’s “person” is truly gone. I mean, they were literally friends for the past 10 seasons and now (and it is a rarity that female friendships last that long). With Christina gone now, the whole Owen/Cristina relationship is completely done. Cristina didn’t even give a proper goodbye to the love of her life (they are destined for each other… just ask any true G.A. fan).

Dr. Pierce as Meredith's half sister.

We all thought that Meredith’s only relative was Lexie Gray (R.I.P.), but the new head of Cardiothoracic Surgery, Dr. Margaret Pierce, revealed to Dr. Webber that she is the daughter of Ellis Grey. Dr. Webber then realizes that Dr. Pierce is also his own daughter. WHOA. Who could’ve ever predicted that? Dr. Pierce was basically ignored in the final episodes of last season, but I’m sure this new information will spark more controversy in the tragic world of "Grey’s Anatomy."

New Families.

Callie and Arizona, one of the most drama–filled couples in all of Hollywood FINALLY seem to be getting along. The idea of a surrogate seems to absolve the current tension in the relationship. The Callie/Arizona drama seemed never – ending since the fatal plane crash, so I think we can all agree the couple deserves a break and some happiness. April and Jackson are also expecting, but are they really in the place of raising a child together? While they differ on religious beliefs and how their child will be raised, they are no doubt in love. Hopefully their love can keep them together (though if you ask me, they won’t last until season 12).

Are Derek and Meredith still going strong?

“Grey’s Anatomy” sweethearts Derek (Patrick Dempsey) and Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) have been through the worst in their relationship. Following season 10, it seems like fate is working against them. Derek’s insistence on moving to Washington D.C. and Meredith’s adamant wishes to remain at Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital is their main source of current tension. Throughout last season, Derek traveling back and forth to Washington D.C. took a toll on Meredith and now his desire to actually move there adds to the heightened disagreement. Plus, with Cristina gone, Meredith will definitely feel extra emotional pressure. All Derek/Meredith shippers (myself included) hope they make it through another season.

“Grey’s Anatomy” fans better hold on to their seats as it’s almost guaranteed that this new season consisting of 24 episodes will bring tears to your eyes, tug at your heartstrings, and cause unwanted feelings of absolute depression as the well – known drama of “Grey’s Anatomy” continues.
