Incumbent Gov. Jerry Brown clashed hard and often with Republican challenger Neel Kashkari in the first, and only, California gubernatorial debate. Brown often leaned hard on a platform of accomplishments, whereas Kashkari made an appeal to the state's eroding middle class.

Kashkari, largely considered to be a non-competitive challenger, is down 16 points in recent polls. You can view the entirety of the televised debate on KQED.
