According to a report by NBC 4 New York, Federal investigators still have not been able to connect Governor Chris Christie himself with "Bridgegate," the traffic lane closures on the George Washington Bridge that caused horrendous traffic blockages for four days.

Investigations into the matter were initiated by the US Attorney for New Jersey after emails and text messages revealed in January 2014 that two of Christie's aides arbitrarily ordered the closures and later attempted to obfuscate the truth.

Christie's own attorneys released an internal review in March that placed full blame for the incident on the aides, David Wildstein and Bridget Kelly.

Although the NBC reporters made certain to stress that a final determination had not been made, this information does indicate that earlier reports claiming that investigators were "closing in" on Christie were incorrect.
