Venice Workers And Businesses React To Minimum Wage Increase Proposal
Venice business owners, employees and vendors do not agree on Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti's proposed wage increase.
Venice is part of District 11, where Councilman Mike Bonin has supported the wage raise since early June when Seattle raised their minimum wage to $15 an hour. Minimum wage workers and business owners in this district, however, do not all agree with Bonin.
While some are hoping that the proposal passes to help with the cost of living in Los Angeles, others suggest that those high demands simply be decreased.

In celebration of Labor Day, Garcetti announced a proposal at a rally in South Los Angeles to raise minimum wage to $13.25 an hour over the next three years with future increases based on inflation.
The proposal requires a majority of city council votes before it is fully passed and implemented. The areas that fall under District 11 include: Brentwood, Del Ray, Mar Vista, Pacific Palisades, Playa del Ray, Playa Vista, Venice, West Los Angeles and Westchester.
