Apple confirmed that some celebrities' accounts were targeted and attacked, which led to the mass theft of the their private photos. However, the company has denied that the leak was caused by the breach in its security system.

According to Apple’s statement, “after more than 40 hours of investigation” the company’s engineers identified that the theft was the result of “targeted attack on [celebrity’s] user names, passwords and security questions.”

On Sunday, up to 200 pictures of celebrities were taken from their Apple account and were posted on 4chan. The recent hack has raised multiple security concerns on Apple's information sharing system iCloud.

The hackers are still at large and Apple is working with law enforcement to identify the criminals.
