USC cornerback Josh Shaw admitted to lying about a fall in which he sustained injuries to both his ankles last weekend.

The senior said in a statement through his attorney that he "made up a story about this fall that was untrue."

USC has apologized for publishing the earlier version of Shaw's story and suspended Shaw indefinitely from team activities.

"We are extremely disappointed in Josh," USC head coach Steve Sarkisian said on Wednesday. "He let us all down."

Sark also went on to say that he hopes the Trojan Family "will accept [Shaw's] apology and support him."

Shaw's lawyer, Donald Etra, is a notable criminal defense attorney who has handled numerous celebrity cases.

There has not yet been a statement about how Shaw sustained his injuries.
