Senior Nuclear Expert Urges Shut Down Of California Nuclear Power Plant

A senior federal nuclear expert, as well as environmentalists, are urging regulators to shut down California's last operating nuclear plant, according to The Guardian.

Diablo Canyon, located half-way between Los Angeles and San Francisco, has long-been depicted as a nuclear diaster in waiting.

Michael Peck, who worked for five years as Diablo Canyon's lead on-site inspector, says the plant should be shut down until inspectors can determine if the facility's twin reactors can withstand shaking from the nearby earthquake faults.
