Senate Republicans Mount Challenge To CIA 'Torture Report'

Specifically, the committee’s Republican minority plan to file a dissenting addendum that they say will reveal new information indicating that “the CIA’s Detention and Interrogation program did develop significant intelligence that helped…identify and capture important al-Qa’ida terrorists…and take down Usama Bin Ladin.” The document will be written primarily by the staff of Saxby Chambliss, the committee’s ranking Republican.
Committee Chairman Dianne Feinstein is set to release the 480-page declassified executive summary, compiled after a five-year investigation into the CIA’s rendition, detention and interrogation practices either Wednesday or Thursday. It is expected to claim that “enhanced interrogation” did not contribute to preventing any real terror plots.
