JP Morgan Chase was one of the 15 banks targeted in a cyber attack, involving sophisticated malware intended to delete and manipulate bank records. This attack could potentially affect bank logs and consumer investor accounts but the scope of the attack is still being examined.

Today, FBI officials have launched an investigation and are working with the United States Secret Service to determine who is responsible.

In a statement to shareholders earlier this year, JP Morgan said that it plans to spend more than $250 million a year to focus on the company’s digital security. They have encouraged anyone who detects suspicious activity on their accounts to report it to the bank.
