President Obama announced on Monday more than $100 million in new commitments was going to his My Brother's Keeper initiative.

The initiative was launched in February to increase opportunities for young minority men, says LA Times

The money will come from public and private sector organizations, like the College Board and Citi Foundation.

According to the White House, more than 60 of the nations largest public school systems committed to an 11-point plan to lower dropout rates.

"America will succeed if we're investing in our young people, and we also know that we've got to make sure that boys and young men of color are part of that success," President Obama said at an address at Walker Jones Educational Center.

President Obama created My Brother's Keeper to address the opportunity gaps for black and Latino youths, with the goal of breaking down the barriers holding back students from opportunities.
