A jury ruled that the Los Angeles Dodgers are liable for a 2011 beating that left San Francisco Giants fan Bryan Stow significantly brain damaged.

Dodgers fans Louie Sanchez and Marvin Norwood were convicted earlier this year of the assault that put Stow in a coma and are also partially responsible for the money awarded to Stow, which totals $18 million in damages, according to the L.A. Times.

The Dodgers were accused of being unprepared for large crowds, with a lack of security and poor lighting. A former security personnel at the stadium testified that the staff was ill-equipped. Testimony lasted four weeks, and the jury deliberated for nine days. The jury ruled 9-3 that the Dodgers should be held responsible. The team must pay $13.9 million to Stow's family.
