The House and Senate have reached a tentative agreement for overhauling the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA).

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) and Rep. Jeff Miller (R-FLA) announced on Monday they have a deal to reform the agency, after some on-and off talks, according to The Huffington Post.

The VA bill will provide $5 billion in emergency funding to hire more doctors, nurses and other health care professionals, says The Daily Beast.

It will also offer eligible veterans a "Veterans Choice Card" to seek medical professionals outside of the VA but covered under Medicare and other federal qualified providers.

At a press conference on Monday, Sanders and Miller said the final deal will cost around $15 billion; $10 billion for health care costs and $5 billion for the Department of Veteran Affairs services.

The deal is a mild win for both Democrats and Republicans after long negotiations and votes.
