As you may, or may not know, on Tuesday, soccer history was made when Germany completely obliterated Brazil in the semi-final at 7-1. This was no doubt a humiliating defeat for one of the greatest national teams in history. Brazil’s president, Dilma Rousseff even tweeted saying, “Like all Brazilians, I am very, very sad after the defeat. But we will not let ourselves be broken.”

The team’s coach, Luiz Felipe Scolari, called Tuesday’s match “the worst day of my life.”

But is this loss really that devastating? There are much more pressing matters to attend to, such as Brazil’s long-standing problems with corruption, poor healthcare and lack of proper education. Here are 11 moments that are much more embarrassing than the result of a mere soccer match:

1.    On the subject of soccer, let’s talk about own goals. There is nothing more humiliating than a member of your own team scoring a goal against you. Whoever is guilty of committing this football faux-pas will definitely end up as the laughing stock of the team.

2.    This guy walked, or rather, jumped right into this one. It couldn’t be more obvious that this guy was heading for disaster.

3.    Jump out of the way, maybe?

4.    The Honda ASIMO robot malfunctioned during a demonstration which isn’t good news for potential investors in the audience.

5.    In another soccer related incident, this player just had to act all stylish…and look where that got him.

6.    This driver should really have invested in some chains for his wheels.

7.    Ok, so it’s Spring Break, you’re in a dance contest, you’re wearing Speedos (another embarrassing moment on its own), and you have people screaming for you, what could possibly go wrong?

8. Finally, why not have a bunch of embarrassing moments put together in one video?

So there you have it, 8 moments that should convince you that it was not the end of the world when Brazil got kicked out of the World Cup. As the Wall Street Journal so eloquently put it, “Brazil is going to be just fine.”

I agree.
