Rick Perry Compares Homosexuality To Alcoholism, Twitter Reacts

In a classic case of Ultra-Conservatives Saying Stupid Things, Texas Governor Rick Perry compared homosexuality to alcoholism during a visit to California.

According to Dallas News, the former and potential future GOP presidential candidate was asked whether he believed homosexuality was a disorder. The governor reportedly responded that whether people feel compelled to follow that lifestyle or not, they "have the ability to decide not to do that," adding: “I may have the genetic coding that I’m inclined to be an alcoholic, but I have the desire not to do that, and I look at the homosexual issue the same way.”

Predictably, Twitter has exploded with tweets ranging from angry to humorous in response to Perry's idiotic comments. (Though this writer questions whether people jokingly inquiring about Perry's own sexual preferences contributes to the homophobia they're chastising him for.)
