After a heated debate last Wednesday, the three candidates vying for the position of Los Angeles County’s 3rd District Supervisor made their final efforts to gain voters before Tuesday’s election, according to the Los Angeles Times.

The three candidates, West Hollywood city council member John Duran, former Santa Monica Mayor Bobby Shriver, and former California Senator Sheila Kuehl spent the past weekend traveling all over the county attending events and thanking supporters for their votes.

District 3 of Los Angeles County spans 431 square miles and includes the areas of Agoura Hills, Beverly Hills, Calabasas, Malibu, Santa Monica, San Fernando Valley and West Hollywood.

Duran is seen as the frontrunner for this election, as he was recently endorsed by Los Angeles Mayor Eric Garcetti and Los Angeles County Supervisor Gloria Molina, who said Duran “has a proven track record of delivering high-quality municipal services as a West Hollywood Councilman,” according to the Los Angeles Times.

The winning candidate will replace termed-out Zev Yaroslavsky, who has served on the county’s Board of Supervisors since 1994.

If none of the candidates receive more than 50 percent of the vote, a runoff election will be held in the November general elections, according to Southern California Public Radio (SCPR).
