TriStar may just be onto something big. The production studio and the comedy-duo who brought you “Bridesmaid,” Kristen Wiig and Annie Mumolo, are teaming up once more.

It is confirmed that the pair will produce, write, and star in the upcoming Tom Rothman’s TriStar new comedy film. Although it is still too early to know the production details, The New York Times reports the film’s story revolves around two best friends “who find themselves in over their heads and out of their depths, which were, perhaps, not too deep to begin with.”

Not only will “Bridesmaid” fans see Wiig and Mumolo reunite on the big screen. They will also be able to witness the first film ever directed by Kristen Wiig herself. Both ladies have expressed their excitement to write the new film and the upcoming director, Wiig, has stated “I’ve been wanting to direct for some time now. This seems like the perfect first project.”

Asides from receiving an Academy Award nomination back in 2011, the female driven-film made a positive statement about women in comedy. “Bridesmaid” demonstrated that an all-women cast could also be as successful as a male-driven cast seen in “The Hangover” and “The Expendables” films.
