Chinatown Summer Nights Celebrates Fifth Year Of Festival
The event was free and open to all ages, boasting live music and entertainment, gourmet food trucks, vendors, photo booths and much more. There was even a Capuchin monkey, with which visitors were able to take photos.
A KCRW DJ spun music throughout the night on the Central Plaza Main Stage, while over on the LA WEEKLY Live Music Stage, local artists such as Meiko, Babes, EFG and Kera & the Lesbians performed at the top of each hour.
Local artisans and flea market vendors were also selling their wares throughout the evening—from handmade jewelry to vintage clothing to baked goods.

In between music sets and shopping, visitors were able to chow down on gourmet grilled cheese, garlic fries, tasty frozen treats and a variety of other cuisines from vendors such as Crepe N Around, Fulff Ice, India Jones, and Yalla Truck. For the adults in attendance, there was also a craft beer garden curated by Eagle Rock Brewery.
There was even a family workshop presented by the Chinese American Museum, as well as crafts such as fruit carving, brush painting, and calligraphy, Iron Chef-style culinary competitions and a drawing activity sponsored by The Big Draw LA.
Throughout the evening, confetti cannons sent showers of confetti into the warm summer air. Once the sun went down, Chinatown was lit up with neon, bright red lanterns and movies were projected onto the sides of buildings while attendees shopped, dined and danced the night away.
If you happened to miss out on the first Chinatown Summer Nights of 2014, you're in luck: the event will run again on July 12 and August 9. Additional KCRW Summer Nights Events include free live music in Old Town Pasadena on June 21, Made in L.A.
