The total amount of destruction throughout San Diego County continues to climb, as nine wildfires have scorched 15 square miles and caused more than $20 million in damages, according to KABC.

Fire officials also found "a badly burned body" in Carlsbad, after surveying damage from the "Poinsettia Fire" — now 85 percent contained.

But the fiercest battle for officials continues to be the "Cocos Fire," which has grown to 3,018 acres by early morning.

San Marcos' fire chief, Brett Van Wey, told CNN that the city was "fortunate" to have only lost four homes to fire damage. Fire crews are hoping to get a much-needed assist from cooling temperatures and decreasing winds.

Investigators are now looking in the cause of the wildfires, with sources telling KABC that "the nine fires are suspicious in nature because they erupted about an hour apart from each other." San Diego County Supervisor Bill Horn told CNN that the timing of the fires is "too much of a coincidence."
