USC, Occidental Under Federal Investigation Over Sex Assault Cases

USC, along with 54 other universities across the country, are under federal investigation for mishandling sexual assault investigations, the U.S. Department of Education announced Thursday.

According to the Los Angeles Times, federal investigators are looking into whether the 55 campuses, including USC and Occidental College, violated Title IX, which "prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex in all education programs and activities that receive federal financial assistance."

Title IX also requires universities and colleges to properly address sexual assault cases.
