UC Regents Hope To End Monopoly On Transfers

In fact, just 19 colleges sent half of all the 13,999 community college transfers to UC campuses last year, while 93 other schools made up the other half of transfer students.
In December, UC President Janet Napolitano assembled the UC Transfer Action Team, to help address the vast disparity in transfer rates in the carious regions in California.
“To make sure that low-income families have their shot at UC and to really maximize that potential, the number of transfers must be increased,” said Gov. Jerry Brown at the UC Board of Regents meeting in Sacramento. “Transfer opportunity is a way to maintain a high degree of quality, increase diversity and lower our cost structure.”
Also on the agenda is a review of how the UC system handles sexual assault, an issue that has similarly plagued the University of Southern California (USC).
