A Washington teenager caused a three-car accident on Sunday evening after holding his breath and fainting, according to ABC News.

Snohomish-based Daniel J. Calhon, 19, caused the crash in the Dennis L. Edwards tunnel on Highway 26, west of Manning.

When he fainted, his 1990 Toyota Camry crossed the centerline of the road and crashed head-on with a 2013 Ford Explorer. Both of the vehicles hit the tunnel walls, at which time a 1999 GMC pickup truck hit Calhon’s car, according to the Oregonian.

Police charged Calhon with reckless driving, three counts of reckless endangerment and fourth-degree assault, according to the Daily Mail. Police officials are still not sure why Calhon fainted, but some people to hold their breaths when in tunnels as part of a superstition, according to the Washington Post.
