Former "Friends" star David Schwimmer reportedly aided the NYPD in solving a stabbing case by offering his surveillance video.

The footage shows a heated argument between a john and a man who tried to steal his computer. The violence began when a 26-year old man, who lives next door to Schwimmer in East Village, was having sex with a female prostitute, when he realized there was an intruder in his home.

The alleged robber, 21-year-old Robert Rainey somehow was able to enter the man’s apartment and steal his computer. The two took the argument outside, where the actor’s security camera captured them physically fighting in the hallway and, subsequently, smashing into a glass door.

Before Schwimmer handed in his video, the NYPD could only rely on the stories given by both sides. According to the New York Daily News, with the video, Rainey was charged with robbery, assault with intent to cause dismemberment and disfigurement, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal mischief. He is now at Beth Israel Medical Center with slashes in his arm, while the victim is being treated at Bellevue Hospital for stab wounds he suffered during the bloody altercation.

It pays to have good "Friends" in the neighborhood!
