California Pledges $250 Million To Help Link Learning And Careers

As any barista with a PhD or multi-millionaire without a college degree or even a high school diploma can tell you, education and wealth are not always correlated. 

Calif., however, is looking to increase the economic rewards of education. 

On Friday, state officials announced that they would be dedicating $250 million in grants from the California Careers Pathway Trust to help students turn their education into employment opportunities. 

In the largest state-driven initiative of its kind, Calif. is hoping to build relationships between schools, community colleges and employers so that students graduate with not only textbook smarts, but career smarts as well.
