"Wreck-It Ralph" may not have been a huge box office success compared to "Frozen," but it was still nominated for an Academy Award and generated a lot of media buzz in 2012.

Recently, the composer of "Wreck-It Ralph," Henry Jackman, revealed that Disney is already working on a sequel and is currently in the preproduction stage.

“I can’t tell you more, not because I’m being coy, but I believe that it is officially on the cards," Jackman said. Although he didn't reveal much about the sequel, he stated that he really enjoyed the film and described "Wreck-It Ralph" as being "fantastically imaginative and creative". Some reacted to the news enthusasitically while some were skeptical whether a sequel would work for the film.

This was not the first time that a sequel is being speculate. In an interview in 2012, director Rich Moore did mention he was in talks with Disney and that the cast and crew were open to a sequel which may include Mario.

"Wreck-It Ralph" follows the story of characters in the world of video games, mainly the character Ralph who plays the villain in his game but always wishes to be the "good guy". He gets his chance when he meets Vanellope from another game Sugar Rush. They embark on a journey of friendship and self-discovery.

The film began with a $49 million box office opening weekend, making it the largest opening for Disney before "Frozen". It was favorably received by critics and had always attracted talks of a sequel. Although there have not been any confirmation from Disney yet regarding the sequel but fans will at least be glad to know a sequel may be on its way.

Other than a possible "Wreck-It Ralph 2", Disney will be releasing "Big Hero 6" based on the Marvel superhero team of the same name this year, and "Zootopia" in 2016 about a fox trying to make it big in the world.
