Whooping Cough Cases In Long Beach On The Rise
Whooping cough cases nearly quadrupled since 2013 in Long Beach, the L.A. Times reported Tuesday.

More than 40 cases have been reported since January, while only 15 cases were reported in all of 2013.
Only four were reported in 2012.
No deaths linked to these numbers have been reported.
In February, an infant in Riverside died of whooping cough, as reported by NBC Los Angeles.

Columnist Michael Hiltzik explained how dangerous the anti-vaccine movement can be.

Jenny McCarthy, actress and once staunch anti-vaccine advocate who said it contributed to her son’s autism, recently backtracked in a Chicago Sun Times article in the beginning of the year.
“I’m not anti-vaccine," McCarthy wrote. "For years, I have repeatedly stated that I am, in fact, ‘pro-vaccine’ and for years I have been wrongly branded as ‘anti-vaccine.'"
You can see for yourself what McCarthy has said about vaccines since the beginning of the anti-vaccine movement in a cleverly produced article by the Washington Post.
