Western Africa Ebola Outbreak Kills 80, Toll Rising

The virus is of the Zaire strain, and is considered the most aggressive and deadly—killing nine out of 10 infected patients.
The Ebola virus induces flu-like symptoms that are followed by more severe symptoms such as impaired kidney and liver function and internal and external bleeding.
There are no vaccines or treatments for the disease, and isolation is the only way to stop the transmission of the virus.
Humans can contract the Ebola virus through contact with bodily fluids from infected animals.
