If you were a minion, what would your world be like?

On Friday April 12, 2014, Universal Studios hosted a grand opening for their new ride, “Minion Mayhem," modeled after the popular animation films “Despicable Me.” This interactive ride modeled to let the riders experience what it’s like to to be minion utilizes incredible 3-D graphics to transform the surroundings into a completely new and unique environment — particularly one of the minion’s.

The appearance of the venue itself is decorated like the neighborhood that Gru, voiced by Steve Carell, and his girls call home.

The decorations are fun, inviting, and unique to what the films represent. From the decorations, visitors can tell that this adventure was really meant to allow people to interact with their surroundings and enjoy the scene.

Each house even has a special minion laugh track that plays when people pushed the doorbells!

Upon entering, each rider is given goggles used to assist the visual stimulation that the ride provides, and then led into a waiting room. Decorations such as the Gru Family Tree and drawings grace the walls. From there, the riders are led into a room where a special clip is played to announce the mission of this journey.

Adjacent to the Minion Mayhem ride is the Super Silly Fun Land, meant to be an interactive play-zone for children (maybe even adults) which consists of fun playgrounds and structures for a fun time.

Overall, the ride was very enjoyable with the movements of the hydraulically driven vehicles that moved synchronously to the visuals on the screen. This was a very amusing and entertaining ride that is enjoyable for all ages, and should definitely be on everyone’s go-to list for the summer!
