Traveling To Coachella: The Playlist

Ahh, Coachella. A weekend of fun in the sun with music, art and your besties. For the realists, it’s a weekend you most likely paid too much for a hotel (and will proceed to buy pizza at the venue for the price of your first child) and you don’t look forward to getting clobbered by 17 year olds in obnoxious flower crowns.

Either way, you’re making the trip to Coachella. And of course, since you’re going to a music festival, it’s only a fact that you’ll be listening to music on the way to Indio.

We’ve gathered a few picks to help you with a playlist for the drive.

“Hey Ya” by OutKast

There’s no better jam to start blasting. You will need to set the tone for the weekend aka “Y’all don’t wanna hear me, you just wanna dance.”

“Ride” by Lana Del Rey

You may be thinking: “Note to self—try not to look to interested in Lana. Oh but her raspy voice.” This song is basically the only song that needs to be playing “out on that open road.”

“You Know You Like It” by AlunaGeorge

Because it’s a sassy song to drive to as you leave civilization and venture into the land of deserts and cactus.

“Rill Rill” by Sleigh Bells

This is to be jammed to at the inevitable Starbucks and/or In-In-Out stop.

“Hurricane” by MS MR

Next stop on the dive: the dreaded gas station. To use the porta potties and restrooms at some of these Chevrons that will be “so dark and foul I can’t describe.” This song (and perhaps a bag of Chex Mix) is a must at this point in the trip.

“Waiting Game” by Banks

Because it’s only a matter of an hour or two before you arrive at the crowded space you're staying.

“Walking On A Dream” by Empire of the Sun

Finally, you’ve arrived! Essentially, you are going to one of the largest music festivals in the world so forget all your troubles for the weekend and live the dream.
