Tornadoes Across Mid-West Kill At Least 18

Tornadoes tore through the mid-western United States on Sunday, leaving a trail of destruction and killing at least 18 people.

Oklahoma and Arkansas were the two states that suffered the most, as small towns and neighborhoods were ripped to shreds by the powerful storm systems. More than 10 people have been reported as dead in the county of Faulkner alone.

Authorities were forced to close Interstate 40, about 22 miles north of the state capital of Little Rock, as a significant section of the highway was strewn with overturned and mangled cars, some still contain trapped drivers and passengers. 

Though this tornado season is still quite young, this storm system was exceptionally powerful and could have done significantly more damage had it struck a major town or city center.
