The USC Shoah Foundation Institute Student Association (SFISA), along with the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism, will host the first event of USC Genocide Awareness Month, featuring an evening with Rwanda Genocide survivor and student activist Yannick Tona.

Tona will be speaking on April 1, from 6:30 to 7:30, at the USC Annenberg School of Communication and Journalism.

Currently, Tona is a student at Texas Christian University. Tona is expected to describe his experiences during the Genocide, which took the lives of many of his family members. Tona will explicate the indelible link between these experiences and his humanitarian efforts.

Tona will also provide insight into the role that Rwandan media organizations played in brining about the hatred that fueled the Genocide.
