The Mississippi Legislature passed a ban on abortions at 20 weeks or more gestation on Tuesday and ignoring some lawmakers’ suggestions for exceptions for rape or incest.

The vote was 90-21 in the House and 41-10 in the Senate. The bill allows for cases where the mother’s life is in danger or where doctors have determined the fetus will not survive.

Planned Parenthood claims that the way the bill is actually an 18-week ban, because the phrasing counts the pregnancy as beginning with the woman’s last menstrual period.
