Update: Officer reported to be in good condition after the 8 p.m. shooting. Suspect is said to be in critical condition, according to the LAPD

A Los Angeles police officer in the Mid-City Wilshire Division was wounded Monday night after a man walked into the office and opened fire.

The suspect opened fire around 8 p.m. and was injured after one officer returned fire, said the Los Angeles Police Department.

Officer Sara Faden told the L.A. Times that there are multiple victims.

LA Weekly reported that the incident was a "full on shoot out."

LAPD Officer Sara Faden said the "suspect entered the lobby of the West Traffic Division and began shooting."

The injured officer was working the front desk and "returned fire, striking the suspect," she said. "During the exchange of gunfire the officer was also struck by the suspect's gunfire."

The LAPD stated it will hold a press conference later this evening with more information.
