In an unprecedented move, Georgia Gov. Nathan Deal passed legislation on Wednesday that significantly expands gun rights in the state, NBC News reports.

This bill allows licensed gun owners to bear firearms in more public places, including churches, bars, and government buildings that do not have check points.

Furthermore, under the new bill, school districts have the power to permit certain employees to carry guns.

The National Rifle Association is calling the bill "the most comprehensive pro-gun reform legislation introduced in recent state history."

Needless to say, this bill has spurred much controversy among Democrats and Republicans. Republicans claim that it is simply a restoration of American's Second Amendment rights. However, Democrats assert that the measure will lead to more deaths and safety concerns.
